When create VM

  • must choose the user name "tigergraph" and copy and paste your ssh key.
  • The TigerGraph VM only has 30GB disk and it's highly recommanded to attach a large disk to the VM.

Attach and use a large disk for TigerGraph VM

  1.  In Azure portal, add a new disk with 1TB or so. ssh to VM as tigergrpah user, format and mount the disk to /datadrive. Details can be found at: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/virtual-machines/linux/attach-disk-portal.
    Short commands are given as example
    >> sudo mount /dev/sdc /data/
    >> sudo fdisk /dev/sdc
         n p 1 w
    >> sudo mkfs -t ext4 /dev/sdc1
    >> sudo mkdir /datadrive
    >> sudo mount /dev/sdc1 /datadrive

  2. Assign /datadrive to tigergraph.
    >> sudo chown -R tigergraph:tigergraph /datadrive

  3. Move TigerGraph data folders to /datadrive. Here the user is "tigergraph"
    >> mkdir /datadrive/tigergraph
    >> mv /home/tigergraph/tigergraph/kafka /datadrive/tigergraph/
    >> mv /home/tigergraph/tigergraph/gstore/ /datadrive/tigergraph/
    >> mv /home/tigergraph/tigergraph/logs /datadrive/tigergraph/
    >> ln -s /datadrive/tigergraph/logs /home/tigergraph/tigergraph/logs
    >> ln -s  /datadrive/tigergraph/kafka  /home/tigergraph/tigergraph/kafka
    >> ln -s  /datadrive/tigergraph/gstore /home/tigergraph/tigergraph/gstore
  4. Apply the license
    >> gadmin set-license-key  nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
  5. Start the service
    >> gadmin start
  6. Currently port 22 (ssh) and 14240 (TigerGraph’s GraphStudio) are open to public.
